There are two types of motivation,

 

Intrinsic and Extrinsic.

A company must realize that its employees are not clones, but instead individuals with distinctive properties. Motivating your employees effectively will give a bigger awareness of several methods and sources of motivation.

 

With this information, you will be able to better characterize your people and apply the appropriate motivators to increase employee engagement and satisfaction. Extrinsic motivation may work much better for some employees than intrinsic motivation may work better for others.

Intrinsic motivation

Intrinsically motivated is when a person's motivation comes from within. He or she is motivated to do well at work since the outcomes are consistent with his or her beliefs.

 

The strongest motivating influences are usually an individual's deep-seated convictions. Acceptance, curiosity, honours, and a desire to succeed are all characteristics shared by such people.

 

Positive employee feedback, as well as praise, has been demonstrated to improve intrinsic motivation in studies. However, everything should be done in moderation. If you do too much of any of these, there's a good risk you'll lose motivation.

It has been found in individuals, and I am using this as an example here, that when individuals are overly praised for the small tasks they are asked to complete on a regular basis, their motivation levels drop. Now, if you're reading this blog, chances are you're not a child. While we encourage kids to speak useful info, the objective of this site is to focus on adults.

Please be purposeful with your feedback or praise if you are a manager, supervisor, or in a leadership role. Make sure it motivates your employees and because they are knowledgeable of your expectations.

Extrinsic Motivation

 

Motivation can be defined as motivation that's also motivated by environmental stimulation such as rewards and recognition. Some people will never be internally motivated, and will rely on external motivation to accomplish their responsibilities.

Extrinsic rewards have been shown to improve a person's motivation to learn new skills, as according investigation. Bonuses, rewards, incentives, and other tangible rewards can increase motivation or provide feedback.

Extrinsic benefits, meanwhile, must be managed with carefully. Too much of anything can be bad, and as a manager or supervisor, you must evaluate how far you will inspire your people to achieve objectives of the organization.

  1. As you said extrinsic motivation arises from outside of the individual while intrinsic motivation comes from within. Intrinsic motivation, however, is typically a more effective long-term method for achieving goals and completing tasks in a way that makes you feel fulfilled. While extrinsic motivation is helpful in certain situations, it may eventually lead to burnout or lose effectiveness over time.

    1. When there is an external motivation, there is an intrinsic motivation in the employees. That is what these two methods of motivation mean. The most important One is the intrinsic motivation.

  2. As you mentioned, Extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation are the two primary types of motivation. When you employ extrinsic incentive to motivate your team to achieve what you want, you are encouraging them to act on their own initiative. Pay raises, time off, bonus checks, and the prospect of losing one's work are all examples of extrinsic motivators - some of which are beneficial, while others which are not. Internal motivation is referred to as intrinsic motivation.

    1. I agree with you that when an organization motivates employees externally, they are automatically motivated internally. That's what we all want to be in a company, right?

  3. According to you, both types of motivation are important and have different effects on how you work. External motivation is when external factors are used to motivate the team to do what is needed. Wage increases, vacations, bonus checks, and the threat of losing a job are all external motivations. Internal motivation involves performing a task because it brings personal benefits to the employee. However, internal motivation is usually the most effective long-term way to achieve goals and in a way that feels accomplished.
